ANNOUNCEMENT

@mlscience has teamed up with @ladynoir-aka-life to bring significant improvements to the Miraculers Plotting Project!

In her post here, she outlines the instructions on how to place yourself on a world map, to create a complete map of the Miraculous Ladybug Fandom (here)! Even Hawkdaddy’s in it.

In an effort to extract more accurate data, the Miraculers Plotting Project will now input geolocation data from the Miraculous Ladybug Fandom Map to create a more accurate study!

In line, these changes will occur:

  • The MPP will no longer create a full map plotting all Miraculers; the Fandom Map takes care of that quite well.
  • Instead, the MPP will create new maps that will represent the data gathered more meaningfully, including a map of the metropolitan cities with the most Miraculers, US states by Miraculer Population/Density, Miraculers per country, etc.
  • The MPP may be released later than expected, on late May or early June 2016. The MPP’s results are delayed indefinitely until further notice.

Of course, the MPP gathers more data than just geolocation, including age and gender, so if you haven’t yet, go answer it here! And if you haven’t placed yourself on the fandom map yet, do so by following the instructions on this post!

We hope that the fandom will enjoy the information that will eventually be released!

Also, watch out for Ships Ahoy #3! It’s gonna be our biggest yet.

Q:hi could you do a research and find how tall (small) is nathanaƫl?

Anonymous

Very recently, I’ve (finally) found a way to put a perspective grid on this one scene (the Eiffel Tower proved to be very useful once again):

Expect a full table of the heights of all the characters pictured in this scene (that have their full bodies shown) very soon.

(The post concerned.)

Whoops. 8D

Thanks for pointing it out! I’ve changed the feet values in the post to 5′11″ and 5′5″. Hopefully everyone notices. (Also, Adrien is huge. What)

On a sidenote: I’m never trusting those instant Google conversions ever again.

-Admin AT

Y’know what? I’m gonna calculate Adrien’s height again using his Mercedes.

”Anonymous asked:

How long do you think Ladybug’s yo-yo is?”

The answer is simple and can be found in this tweet by Hawkdaddy:

image

“[Length] of string is controlled by willpower.” “probably infinite”.

But since we can, we calculated the length of the Yoyo String from this particular scene from “Le Bulleur” anyway:

image

TL;DR: It’s around ~142 meters long in that scene. Rough approximations and all.

A lot of people have asked about this, so we’re not gonna ignore it. However, even if Marinette’s parents have different eye colors from what we mentioned, it’s not going to affect the eye color of Marinette’s children because they will still both have the blue gene because Marinette already has the double recessive blue. But since I’m feeling good today, I made some Punnett squares to illustrate some possible genotypes for Marinette’s parents while still being capable of producing blue-eyed children.

Anyway, genetics is weird and complicated. It takes a lot of individual genes to determine how much pigment is produced by the body to make our eyes a certain color. To make things simpler, we followed Mendel’s methods of looking at the visible physical traits and creating assumptions from parent and offspring phenotypes. It’s very difficult to trace which exact genes are present in these characters that affect their eye color.

THE NEW MLSCIENCE BLOG

image

Greetings! Today, we are glad to announce that we are formally opening the new mlscience blog.

The initial idea from this blog came from alphatoronado and azurajae.

We aim to document and conduct *research* on every aspect of the CGI show Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir (Also known as Miraculous or simply Ladybug; Miraculous: Les Aventures de Ladybug et Chat Noir in French) and its resulting fanbase.

In the future, expect posts that will explain how we think certain elements in the show work, as well as show theoretical possibilities and actual physics calculations that would give us clearer views of Ladybug and Chat Noir’s superhero capabilities. We would also delve into more trivial parts, such as what eye color Marinette and Adrien’s children could have using basic knowledge of Mendelian genetics.

We also plan to present updates and publish the results of the currently ongoing Miraculers Plotting Project on this blog. If you haven’t yet, please answer this survey to help complete a detailed study of the current fandom’s geographical presence.

We’re also looking for potential contributors; if you think you’re up to it, please email alphatoronado@gmail.com.

For future posts and updates, please follow mlscience.tumblr.com!
