Bonjour mes chères coccinelles et mes petits minous!
We’ve made a survey that we’ll be showing to ZAG, Inc., about the Tumblr and internet fandom for Miraculous Ladybug! If everyone could fill this out and please reblog so we get a huge reach to show to ZAG, that would be great!
(Adrien Agreste was used as a reference. To see how we retrieved Adrien’s height, click here and here.)
Using the pixel-proportion method, we now have a realistic and somewhat accurate list of the heights of the “collégiens”, or Marinette, Adrien and their classmates, minus Alix, Kim, and Max. This took a long time to do for various reasons, including the countless attempts to draw proper perspective lines on the reference image and the numerous calculations involving counting pixels, plugging the numbers on a calculator, and making that graphic above.
While we do have some pretty specific numbers up there, those shouldn’t be taken as 100% accurate results, due to some rounding off and other stuff that may have happened during the multiple stages of this project.
We might produce a more accurate version if we get more decent screenshots.

Their school doesn’t exist in actual Paris, like many other places in the series, including Marinette, Adrien, and Chloé’s homes, but we can conclude from a few scenes that it’s right across the Seine from the Notre Dame de Paris:
(Marinette’s house =>
Collège)
(Collège
on the right.)
(Notre Dame de Paris on the left.)
There are a lot of other scenes that depict Marinette’s house right across the Seine from the Notre Dame as well. @paris-in-miraculous-ladybug might be able to give you some more information on this.
Yes, this post looks familiar. No, this isn’t the same post. Here we are again trying to calculate Adrien/Chat Noir’s height even though we clearly already did in this previous post.
A LOT OF YOU said some things along the lines of ”Chat Noir is so tall wtf” and “How tall are the adults?” (which we will someday totally calculate btw), and Admin AT agreed that yes, Adrien does look a little bit… too tall for a french ~15 year old.
So we did it again. This time with fencing swords.
TL;DR We pulled out four possible heights from these calculations; ~156.5cm (5′2″), ~166.6cm (5′6″), ~171.7cm (5′8″) and ~181.7cm (less than half an inch shy of 6′0″), based on four different sizes of modern regulation fencing foils and épées.
(Click “Keep Reading” to view the calculations. Click here to see Part 1 of this series that aims to narrow down Adrien/Chat Noir’s height and the heights of other characters.)
Just a quick correction to your height calculations for Chat Noir - 180cm may be equivalent to 5.9 feet, but that’s according to a decimal system. There are 12 inches to one foot, so 180cm is actually closer to 5′11″. Chat Noir is just shy of six foot, in that case.”
As a science and mathematics blog, @mlscience needs a lot of data to calculate stuff. One such piece of data would be dimensions; length, height, width, etc. These dimensions are crucial in order to calculate how fast things go, how heavy things are, and how much volume everything has.
We needed to find someone’s height, so we set our eyes on one of the easiest candidates: Chat Noir. We also needed something that we can compare him to in real life, and that thing turned out to be Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa.
TL;DR: Chat Noir is about ~180cm (5′11″) tall, assuming that Copycat and Chat Noir are exactly identical in height and that the Mona Lisa portrayed in the show has the same dimensions as the real life Mona Lisa.
But, Tom and Sabine’s eyes aren’t brown? From the picture you used, it looks like Tom’s eyes are green and Sabine’s eyes are grayish. Idk if it’s just that picture and if they look different in the show though.”
A lot of people have asked about this, so we’re not gonna ignore it. However, even if Marinette’s parents have different eye colors from what we mentioned, it’s not going to affect the eye color of Marinette’s children because they will still both have the blue gene because Marinette already has the double recessive blue. But since I’m feeling good today, I made some Punnett squares to illustrate some possible genotypes for Marinette’s parents while still being capable of producing blue-eyed children.
Anyway, genetics is weird and complicated. It takes a lot of individual genes to determine how much pigment is produced by the body to make our eyes a certain color. To make things simpler, we followed Mendel’s methods of looking at the visible physical traits and creating assumptions from parent and offspring phenotypes. It’s very difficult to trace which exact genes are present in these characters that affect their eye color.
It’s time for mlscience’s first actual post! This topic is actually the thing that started it all. A few days ago in the mlsubbing chat, we stumbled upon the topic about what color Marinette and Adrien’s children would be. The result is the above graphic.
Using the beauty of the basics of Mendelian inheritance and Punnett squares, we concluded that if Marinette and Adrien were to have a child, there’s a 50% chance of it having green eyes and another 50% chance of getting blue.
We aim to document and conduct *research* on every aspect of the CGI show Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir (Also known as Miraculous or simply Ladybug; Miraculous: Les Aventures de Ladybug et Chat Noir in French) and its resulting fanbase.
In the future, expect posts that will explain how we think certain elements in the show work, as well as show theoretical possibilities and actual physics calculations that would give us clearer views of Ladybug and Chat Noir’s superhero capabilities. We would also delve into more trivial parts, such as what eye color Marinette and Adrien’s children could have using basic knowledge of Mendelian genetics.
We also plan to present updates and publish the results of the currently ongoing Miraculers Plotting Project on this blog. If you haven’t yet, please answer this survey to help complete a detailed study of the current fandom’s geographical presence.
We’re also looking for potential contributors; if you think you’re up to it, please email alphatoronado@gmail.com.
This blog is managed by fans of the CGI show Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. This blog will focus on mathematical and scientific findings and analyses related to the show and to the show's fandom.
