If Adrien and Marinette had children, what eye color would they have?

(Graphic made by @azurajae. Click to enlarge.)

It’s time for mlscience’s first actual post! This topic is actually the thing that started it all. A few days ago in the mlsubbing chat, we stumbled upon the topic about what color Marinette and Adrien’s children would be. The result is the above graphic.

Using the beauty of the basics of Mendelian inheritance and Punnett squares, we concluded that if Marinette and Adrien were to have a child, there’s a 50% chance of it having green eyes and another 50% chance of getting blue.

(Click “Keep Reading” for the full explanation.)

UPDATE (3/11/2016): ‘Jackady’ has proven our hypothesis that Adrien’s mom has Green or Dark eyes!

The original post has been updated with a couple more Punnett squares of the Agreste family’s eye colors.

Q:"Adrienette" apparently shouldn't have an e according to your triangle chart... But your "pie" chart says it should have an e... Which one is it?

yinwa333

(The post in question.)

(Correction: The triangle chart shows that it should have an ‘e’, and the swatch chart from the previous survey shows that it shouldn’t.)

The “pie” (swatch) chart was a representation of the responses from the previous ‘Ships Ahoy!’ survey. If you would look closely, it’s the same chart.

During those times, ‘Adrinette’ was only very slightly preferred over ‘Adrienette’, making no clear conclusion on which version is “correct”.

This time, however, ‘Adrienette’ is preferred by more people. While there is no actual solid rule on whether it should be spelled that way or not, the more recent data suggests that more people accept ‘Adrienette’ than ‘Adrinette’, which still has many supporters, and is about equally accepted.

As a rule, more recent data is more accurate than old data, so the conclusion that “Yes, ‘Adrienette’ has an E” is drawn from the fact that more people spelled it with an E. ‘Adrinette’, with its large number of supporters, is still acceptable.

You can spell it however you want, but more people spelled it “Adrienette” when the survey was conducted in February.

Ships Ahoy! #2:[FEBRUARY LADYNOIR] Results!

(Infographics made with Piktochart.)

This is a bit late, but the second ‘Ships Ahoy!’ survey results are here! This survey can be seen as a ‘sequel’ to ‘Ships Ahoy #1: [LADYNOIR]’.

All results were collected between the 1st and 26th of the month of love, February 2016! A lot has happened since then, so while these results may not reflect current opinions, they are accurate to that time period.

If you didn’t get to answer this survey, check out @mlscience and our research page!

This same survey will be reconducted in about a month, so we could provide a picture on how the fandom’s preferences and opinions change over time.

We also launched the BOX OF FREEDOM with this survey! Click “Keep Reading” to view some of the responses that caught our eyes.

Q:Do you think a possible reason why Adrien and Mari can't identify each other behind the mask is because they view the world differently when suited up? Like how Mari only sees the world in black and white so she really can't see what Chat Noir's hair color/eye color is?

Anonymous

miraculoushawkdaddy:

official-ladyblog:

Eh, if you really want my answer, the canon reason is just Clark Kenting. Astruc has also confirmed that their vision is totally normal, and the “bug vision” is more like a visually-shown thought process than what Ladybug literally sees.

Voilà. Exactement. Two answers in one ^^

Q:I've been taking part of both the first and the current Ships Ohoy, and I think it's a fun and interesting project^^ I was just wondering one thing; how often do you do a Ships Ohoy and how long does it last? Just curious^^

Anonymous

The ‘Ships Ahoy!’ surveys currently have no set schedules; however, we do try to send them out around a month apart, and the previous two lasted about a month as well. They are intended to be kind of a way to measure the state of the ships within the fandom, so they will be sent out every now and then.

LES HAUTEURS DES COLLÉGIENS V1.0

(Graphic made by Admin AT. Click here to view the full image in higher quality.)

(Adrien Agreste was used as a reference. To see how we retrieved Adrien’s height, click here and here.)

Using the pixel-proportion method, we now have a realistic and somewhat accurate list of the heights of the “collégiens”, or Marinette, Adrien and their classmates, minus Alix, Kim, and Max. This took a long time to do for various reasons, including the countless attempts to draw proper perspective lines on the reference image and the numerous calculations involving counting pixels, plugging the numbers on a calculator, and making that graphic above.

While we do have some pretty specific numbers up there, those shouldn’t be taken as 100% accurate results, due to some rounding off and other stuff that may have happened during the multiple stages of this project.

We might produce a more accurate version if we get more decent screenshots.

(If the image does not load properly, click “Keep Reading” to view the results.)

Idk. Because of the new episode, we know that Juleka is taller than Mari and Chloe. Alya is also taller than Mari, she is a super shorty. So idk how well I can believe this chart.

Yes. I had problems with perspective before, but with the new, clearer shots of them from the newest French episode I could make more accurate calculations.

In addition, because of some perspective problems I’ve overlooked when I calculated Adrien’s height using the Mona Lisa, the inaccurate-ness of this chart is given.

I’ll redo this whole thing and see what happens.

Is there an official name for the four way ship?

sarahcada:

kryallaorchid:

sarahcada:

marinette-adrien:

mirraculous:

I know the usual names for the individual ones (Marichat, Adrinette, Ladrien, Ladynoir), but doesn’t the four way ship need one too?

It’s a good idea

Some people call it Lucky Charm, I think? I just call it the Love Square. Yes. I am very creative.

Lucky Charm’s Ladybug’s special power, so people might get confused.

What about “Four Leaf Clover”?

-shrug-

Tagging @mlscience! Maybe this is something to queue for Research?

Yep! This seems like a pretty good question to put on the next ‘Ships Ahoy!’ survey!

Look forward to that :3

But before that, we’ll finish up 'Ships Ahoy! #2: [February LadyNoir]’. Look forward to that as well!

Ships Ahoy! #1:[LADYNOIR] Results!

The first full infographic out of MLSFR and ‘Ships Ahoy!’ is here! All data that was used came from a Google Forms Survey conducted between November 27, 2015, and January 7, 2016. A total 550 people answered the survey. If you didn’t get to participate in this survey, don’t worry! @mlscience has many more to come in the near future. Check out our research page!

We now know what the fandom calls the combinations of ships, including how to pronounce “Ladrien”, how the ‘N’ in “LadyNoir” doesn’t matter whether it’s upper- or lower- case, and how only nine people support “Marinara” for the very saucy ship.

We also noted the popularity of Marichat, which was possibly caused by the popularity of fanfiction such as @taylordraws ‘s Heartstrings, which has earned over 4,634 Kudos and over 82,058 hits on Ao3, and 741 Favs on Fanfiction.net.

We also conclude that everyone ships LadyNoir, bar a couple of outliers.

This same survey will be reconducted in a few months, so we could provide a picture on how the fandom’s preferences and opinions change over time.

The Sphenoid bone is part of the human neurocranium, a collection of bones in the skull that forms a protective case for the brain. It is located behind the eyes.

Perhaps the most striking thing about this bone is how it resembles a pair of bat or butterfly wings, like this:

image

It kinda matches the shape of the communication mask thing Hawkmoth uses as well:

Maybe this is why Marinette and Adrien can’t tell each other apart when they are ladybug and chat noir.

Wait a second, this would totally make sense actually! When Ladybug uses lucky charm, it’s the one of the only times we get to see the world through her eyes. Everything is in black and white as she scans over the objects around the room. Maybe Ladybug can only see in black and white! 😯

well bless this :0!!!
